Areas of speciality

A little about me – whilst at University I was one of 3 students in my graduating year to achieve membership of the highly selective International Society of Typographic Designers. After graduating university I hit the ground running working for QVC the shopping channel in the early days of the web.

I Worked for QVC the shopping channel for just under 9 years. During my time here I worked on everything to do with the in house e-commerce website, Sky interactive and buy button platform, Cable interactive interactive and buy button, and TV graphics as needed.

Whilst at QVC the website grew from annual turnover of 2.5 million pounds, to over 35 million we also started achieving million pound days in online sales.

Along with day to day Web and interactive TV content and design, I worked on the first QVC branding document for the UK business. This included Logo guidelines fonts tone of voice and colour palettes in print process/spot, Hex and RGB for TV.

Projects of Note;

– Daily content for e-commerce website This was homepage changes, TV schedule and content rotation.

– Involved with 3 bespoke website re-designs.

– QVC logo change and Branding document cover the whole UK business.

– Worked on custom automatic homepage generator Application for Daily changes, and migrations, to help junior designers.

– Worked on TV guide generator for weekly TV guide migrations, to help junior designers.

– Bespoke Template management system to allow junior designers to deploy twice monthly scheduled site wide content deployments.

– Rebranding of QVC Cable interactive platform.

– Rebranding of QVC Sky interactive platform

– Creation of 4 QVC bespoke typefaces specially created for interactive TV and the transition from 4.3 to 16.9 aspect ratio. Typefaces created needed to be legible in both aspects on traditional old TV’s as well as newer widescreen TV’s.


Moving on from QVC I worked with a digital agency as a Lead Technical Designer working on a whole range of projects. Mostly custom bespoke websites built on Microsoft .asp frameworks. Working with a team under me I was responsible for meeting clients, costing and feeding design work into the team. Then moving approved designs through to development.
